The Old North Bridge
Facts about the Old North Bridge:
- The Old North Bridge was were the opening battle of the American Revolution took place on April 19, 1775.
- The bridge is famous for being the location of the 'shot heard around the world.'
- The original bridge doesn't exist anymore but a replica was built in 1956 and was restored in 2005 and is just a few hundred yards from the original location.
- A statue of a minute man by Daniel Chester French stands on the western bank of the Concord River and faces toward the bridge.
- In 1910, residents of Concord placed a
plaque to mark the graves of British
soldiers who died at the bridge.
